What is CHOP™?
CHOP™ is a food ranking program that was designed by the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and is the nutritional program that Second Harvest Food Bank participates in. All the food that comes from Second Harvest is designated with a CHOP™ rank.

How does CHOP™ work?
CHOP™ ranks food into three categories: choose frequently, choose moderately, or choose sparingly, so that it is easy for companies and clients to choose healthy options. The category for each food item is determined by it's nutritional label.

Why should I use CHOP™?
CHOP™ is designed to help the average person make healthy choices. Following the CHOP™ ranking system will provide client with balanced and nutritious meals, which can further support their wellbeing.

How can I use CHOP™?
Whether you are packaging or preparing food for clients CHOP™ can give direction to creating a well balanced meal in a simple way, by identifying the food items that should be used most often to least often.
